Boat Donations

Sea Scouting is a part of the Venturing Division of the Boy Scouts of America with a nationally recognized sailing and high adventure program.  Sea Scout Ship 468 is an active and growing ship within the Galveston Bay Area and the Bay Area Council.  Our program promotes the values of citizenship, leadership, service, outdoors, and fitness. Our mission is also to give more youth the opportunity of making sailing and power-boating a life-long pursuit as racers, cruisers, or enthusiasts.

One way of realizing top value for your boat or equipment is to donate it to a tax-exempt institution or organization. In some cases, it can be economically advantageous to receive an income tax deduction rather than to sell a boat outright. Your boat or equipment may be the perfect addition to our fleet, and donation may be the most advantageous way of disposing of your yacht or boat. In addition, by donating your boat to Sea Scouts, you benefit from knowing that you are helping to support an active waterfront program that builds leadership and character. For many boat owners, giving their boat to a training program enabling many youth to experience the joys of boating is preferable to selling to an individual.

All gifts or donations of boats, equipment or money to Sea Scout Ship 468 are eligible to be used as an income tax deduction.  St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, which serves as the charter organization for Ship 468, will hold title on boats or equipment. The Church has full tax-exempt status, as defined in section 501C(3) of the IRS code.

Call (281.485.7059) or e-mail us to learn more about donating your boat or equipment.
