1980 Glastron Spirit 23

In April of 2004, Mr. Richard Pawly donated a 1980 23'  Glastron Spirit 23 (formerly North American).  The boat was sold in 2006 to raise funds for the operations of other boats owned or operated by Ship 468.

Here are a few facts about the Spirit 23.  Spirits were available in 21', 23', and 28' lengths. The Designer was Robert Finch, who also was co-designer of the Catalina 27, hence the similar clean hull design.  The North American 23 foot sloop was manufactured under that name from 1976 into 1978, and then became the Spirit 23 from 1978 through 1981 after North American was purchased by Glastron, the original builder for the hulls.  Glastron renamed the boat Spirit to allow it to get into the sailboat market. The boats were built in Austin, Texas.
